The Center for Byzantine Material Arts is a non-profit devoted to teaching the techniques and history of the material ecclesiastical arts that have been cultivated in the Byzantine world and its religious and cultural commonwealth (Greece, Russia, the Balkans, the south of Italy, Georgia, etc.). We offer intensive and private courses throughout the year on icon painting from the Center’s iconographers, special week-long courses from highly qualified visiting artisans, lectures and seminars from scholars, iconographers, and clergy. We house an inventory of hand-painted icons from local iconographers in various mediums for purchase as well as take your commissions for particular icons.
Visit our shop to purchase or order icons, painting supplies and goods made by local monastery’s.
